Participant FAQs

• How do I go about applying for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)?

• Do I have to live in Washtenaw County to participate?
• No, it is not necessary for you to be a Washtenaw County resident.
• Does the job have to take place in Washtenaw County in order for me to participate and receive payment for the work?
• No, if you are found to be eligible and the employer you'd like to work with has applied for and been granted approval as a work site, the job does not need to take place in Washtenaw County.
• Do I have to be a U.S. Citizen to participate in this program?
•   You must be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-U.S. citizen.  Please go to http://ewashtenaw.org/goverment/departments/etcs and click on Summer Youth Employment Program for additional information

Employer FAQs:

• How do I become eligible to receive funding?
• Apply to become an approved work site email CorporateServices@ewashtenaw.org and request a Worksite Request Form.
• Do I have to hire who Michigan Works! sends or can I choose who I want?
• You choose who to hire. Accepting applications, determining who to interview and extending a job offer will be entirely up to you as the employer.  This is not a employee-employer match program.
• What do I do once I've offered the job to someone?
• Follow steps/guidelines as put forth by the Washtenaw County Etcs/Michigan Works! office
