Important Changes from Last Year’s Fair

For both new and returning recruiters to Eastern Michigan University (EMU), we thank you for your interest in our annual teacher job fair. Last year, we hosted approximately 172 school districts with 417 recruiters and 1,760 teacher candidates. Please be advised of the following details and changes to help you plan for our April 16, 2008 fair:

1. Open Lunch Hour: This year, we will not close the job fair for the employer luncheon. Instead, we will keep the fair open. We ask school districts who send more than one recruiter to alternate their lunch time so your booth is covered at all times. Lunch space is limited so we will do two separate seatings: 12:30-1 p.m. and 1-1:30 p.m. Employer booths will not be monitored for security. If you are the only recruiter from your district, we encourage you to meet the recruiters near your booth and ask them to safeguard your belongings. Eastern Michigan University (EMU) is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

2. Credit Card Payments: A credit card payment form will be printed with your billing statement. Our policy for securing a booth at this fair is first-registered (online only), first-paid, first-seated. Hence, the sooner we receive your payment, the better your booth location. If you wish to pay by credit card, EMU accepts Visa and Master Card only. Please complete the credit card payment form and fax it to our office.

3. Semi-Private Interviews: As a means of providing additional services to our employers, we now offer school districts the opportunity to compliment their recruitment booth (located throughout the building) by securing a separate table for semi-private interviews. These additional tables will be located in the Atrium (main lobby) of the Convocation Center. The Atrium is also used for candidate registration/check-in and where we host lunch. Eastern Michigan University is pleased to offer this fair to both school districts that seek to hire outstanding teachers and our graduating seniors and alumni. Although the facility we use is the largest building on our campus, this event sold out last year. Please register as soon as possible.
